Learn how to Volunteer for the Placer County California Welcome Center and be an Ambassador!
Do you love living in Placer County? Do you like helping people? Do you want to learn more about the area’s interesting places to live?
You will meet and assist travelers from all over the world, and interact with other community volunteers and docents.
We are seeking outgoing individuals who are knowledgeable on the area, professional, friendly and who are interested in lending their expertise to visitors. The CWC Volunteer Program is an integral part of the Center as volunteers are the first to greet the visitor, offering directions and suggestions for places to visit in Placer County and beyond. You will meet and assist travelers from all over the world, and interact with other community volunteers and docents.
The California Welcome Center is an official state certified visitor’s information agency specializing in a variety of tourism-based services. Visitors will be able to obtain travel planning advice, lodging reservations, snow park passes, guide maps, Internet access and even California and Placer County souvenir merchandise.
To prepare for the position, volunteers will have the opportunity to work with staff to become familiar and gain a greater knowledge of local, regional and state tourism. The Center, located at 1103 High Street, Auburn, is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Auburn site is one of 17 similar agencies strategically positioned across California. The CWCs are encouraged to prominently promote their region and give travelers a reason to stay in the area a little longer and to also represent the State.
